Restaurant will open its doors Monday

A long-watched restaurant will finally open its doors next week.
Neptune's Seafood House at 430 N. Berkeley Ave., which holds 185 guests, is expected to open its doors for the first time 11 a.m. Monday. The 5,777-square-foot facility boasts a lighthouse and plenty of sea decor.
Owners Andy Piliouras and Dimitri Kappas have been busy putting the finishing touches on the family restaurant for opening day. Kappas encourages families to try the restaurant that is named after Neptune, the Roman god of the seas.
"This is a place to bring your family and friends," he said. "If you come here, you will find a very clean restaurant, great food and excellent customer service."
Broiled or fried scallops and flounder, fried oysters, fried stuffed crab, chicken tenders, 12 oz. ribeye steaks and platters ranging from $6.99 to $15.99 will satisfy many guests, he said.
Kappas, who co-owns Neptune's in Smithfield, and Mayflower Seafood Rest-aurants in Rocky Mount and Raleigh, said he is glad he chose the home of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base to expand.
"I've been working here for 17 months and the people in Goldsboro are very nice," he said. "I'm glad I'm here."
He said readying the former restaurant for the new business was no easy task.
Construction crews gutted it and rebuilt it to conform with the company's decorative flare.
By using his own hands and those of his crew, Kappas said the renovation project only cost about $30,000.
The completion date was delayed because the crew built other stores simultaneously.
Piliouras, who will also be the store manager, said no alcohol will be served at the restaurant. Kappas said the restaurant will pass out customer comment cards to get a consensus from the community on the topic.
The store will employ 50 people and the restaurant management team has already started to hire staff.
