MOUNT OLIVE -- Police said 18-year-old Jared Eugene Painter of Bethel Church Road in Mount Olive drove his 1997 Ford into the front of Town Hall around 11 p.m. Monday.
Mount Olive Police Chief Emmett Ballree said no charges were filed.
"We'll let that one go," he said.
The Ford jumped the curb in front of Town Hall and hit some bushes and the front of the building after what appeared to be a domestic dispute, Ballree said.
The report's narrative said Painter took off from a stopped position on James Street where he had been beside a parked car. He then spun the tires and accelerated rapidly. After going about 60 feet, the car turned right.
"The problem is there's no driveway there," the chief said.
Police believe Painter was upset about an argument with the person in the parked car.
