Investigations

Wayne County sheriff's officials are searching for the alleged thieves who stole two fire trucks from the Pricetown Volunteer Fire Station on Zion Road in Mount Olive, damaged them and then parked them back at the fire station this morning. The theft was discovered about 2:05 a.m. However, the theft occurred sometime between 10 p.m. Thursday and 2:05 a.m. today, officials said. There were no signs of forced entry.

C.W. Smith, president, declined to speak on the matter as they were still trying to sort through the matter. But he did say, "I am mad as hell about it," when asked what his reaction to the thefts were.

The unknown suspects drove a utility truck used for storing air pacts and other tools at the fire station and a brush truck used for putting out of small fires. The transmission on the brush truck was reportedly damaged in the theft. The alleged thief also emptied several gallons of water that was in the truck, according to the sheriff's report.

Smith suspected a former member of the fire department was responsible, the sheriff's report said.

Goldsboro police arrested two people who were accused of pilfering purses at City Hall and Art Studio 102 on Center Street in downtown Goldsboro Jan. 25. Investigator Dave Cloutier arrested Sylvester Paskel, 38, of Nile Street, for financial transaction card theft and larceny, and Rashida Robinson, 28, of Nile Street for financial card theft and obtaining property by false pretense. Paskel was placed on a $150,000 bond and Robinson was placed on a $50,000 bond. Video footage of the suspects was captured on a surveillance system at City Hall.
