Wayne County's only public screening of Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" will be held at Wayne Community College next month.

The film will be shown twice. Hosted by the college's Phi Theta Kappa academic honor society, the public is invited to attend the free event, Monday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium, or Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. in Room 101 of the Walnut Building.

The 100-minute film, released in 2006, documents former Vice-President Gore's crusade to halt global warming's progress.

The movie has been released for viewing to a limited number of U.S. and Canadian college campuses.

Wayne Community College is one of only seven community colleges in North Carolina given permission to show it.

"People have heard about it. Now they can come see it and judge for themselves," said Michelle Rogers, PTK chapter president.
