A half-day clinic designed to help young people and adults excel as competitors and coaches in 4-H, FFA and collegiate horse judging contests is Feb. 3 at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. The early registration deadline for the clinic is Jan. 20.

The clinic begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 12:30 p.m. It is provided by the North Carolina Cooperative Extension horse husbandry program at North Carolina State University and is being held in conjunction with the two-day Open Horse Show Judges' Certification Clinic Feb. 3-4.

There is a $6 registration fee until Jan. 20, after which the fee is $8. The clinic will include information on developing a judging system, recognizing ideal horse conformation and performance, taking notes, and organizing and delivering judging decisions.

More information is available from the Cooperative Extension horse husbandry program office at N.C. State University at (919) 515-5784, or Dr. Bob Mowrey, extension horse husbandry coordinator, at (919) 515-7871.
