Investigations
Thieves were busy Monday in the southern part of Wayne County:
*Kay Gulledge's front door was kicked in on Emmaus Church Road, Mount Olive. Thieves took a $150 DVD recorder, according to the report. Damage came to $260. The break-in occurred some time after 7:15 a.m.
*Somebody kicked in the front door at the Danielle Victoria McArthur's house on Kelly Springs Road, Mount Olive. She told investigators they took $3,000 worth of items, including a digital camera, jewelry and the box it was in and a coin counter with change in it. Damage to the door and glass bases and globes came to $940. The break-in occurred some time Monday morning after 9:45.
*Some time after Dec. 15 thieves pried open the side door at Recycled Materials at 538 Old Mount Olive Highway and took a television and remote and a submersible pump, all valued at $810. The thieves also did $100 worth of damage to the breaker box. The break-in was discovered just before 7 a.m. Monday.
*Somebody broke the glass in Sheila Marie Witthoft's house on U.S. 117 Alternate, Dudley. The report said the thieves took $550 worth of food. Damage to the door was $50.
Wayne County sheriff's deputies also are investigating these reports:
*Emmeline L. Meyers reported Dec. 15 that someone fraudulently charged $2,000 on her credit card.
*An employee reported Dec. 17 that someone broke into Subway, 395 U.S. 111 South, causing $400 damage to a rear door.
