Daedalian award winners announced

The 4th Fighter Wing Operations Group Commander, Col Eric L. Nelson, and the 916th Air Refueling Wing Operations Group Commander, Col Mark V. Kolleda, have announced the following Kitty Hawk Daedalian Aircrew Award winners for 2006:
*4th Fighter Wing Fighter Training Unit Instructor Pilot of the Year, Maj. Thomas S. Palmer, 334th Fighter Squadron
*4th Fighter Wing Fighter Training Unit Instructor Weapons System Officer of the Year, Maj. Craig M. Nieman, 334th Fighter Squadron
*4th Fighter Wing Combat Pilot of the Year, Maj Richard A. Goodman, 336th Fighter Squadron
*4th Fighter Wing Combat WSO of the Year, Capt. Nathan J. Marshall, 335th Fighter Squadron
*916th Air Refueling Wing Pilot of the Year, Maj. Robert D. Aplington, 77th Air Refueling Squadron
*916th Air Refueling Wing Boom Operator of the Year, Master Sgt. Rodney S. Smith, 77th Air Refueling Squadron
*Additionally, the Kitty Hawk Daedalian Flight Scholarship Award Winner, 2006 is Cadet Terry J. Sprinkle, Jr., of Rosewood High School, who has successfully soloed.
The Order of Daedalians is a group of present and former military pilots and hereditary members --the descendants of founder members -- that was organized in 1934 by a representative group of American World War I pilots to perpetuate the spirit of patriotism, the love of country, and the high ideals of sacrifice which place service to nation above personal safety or position. The order is dedicated to insuring that America will always be preeminent in air and space, the encouragement of flight safety, fostering an esprit de corps in the military air forces, promoting the adoption of military service as a career and aiding deserving young individuals in specialized higher education through the establishment of scholarships.
The national organization has its headquarters at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
The local flight is the Kitty Hawk Flight No. 8, with headquarters at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
