Pancake breakfast at Boys & Girls Club

Hot pancakes, sausage and coffee will be ready to serve up at 7 a.m. Saturday in the Boys & Girls Club on Royall Avenue.
The club's board members will be preparing and serving the 29th annual pancake breakfast. Proceeds help all three of the Boys & Girls Clubs in Wayne County, the ones at Mount Olive and Fremont as well as the Paley Unit at 1401 Royall Ave. in Goldsboro.
Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from board members and staff at all three clubs.
Director Mary Ann Dudley said there will be plenty of tickets Saturday morning at the door. Pancake Day continues until 2 p.m., and Ms. Dudley said in the 28 previous Pancake Day fund raisers, they have never run out of food. The board served more than 1,600 plates last year, and the club netted more than $12,000.
The goal this year is to make at least $10,000.
"We have several parades in the area, and we are hopeful that between them and the holiday social events, folks can stop by and experience pancakes served up by the board members and volunteers," Ms. Dudley said.
The Boys & Girls Club is a non-profit, privately-funded 501c(3), which depends on donations. The three clubs in Wayne County serve more than 2,100 youngsters.
