Black Friday might be over for this year, but the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross is hoping people will still be in the shopping mood for its yard sale fundraiser Dec. 9.
The event will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the chapter house, 600 N. George St. and is being sponsored by Team Disaster, a group of Red Cross volunteers.
Dora Perry, one of the organizers, said there will be lots of Christmas items at the sale. There will also be household items, clothing, furniture and miscellaneous.
The chapter is still looking for donations. Anyone wanting to drop off items may take them to the chapter house Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Or if someone has an item that is too big to drop off, Red Cross volunteers will pick it up. Just call 735-7202 to schedule a pickup.
Items should be in good condition and usable.
The Red Cross would like to have all donations by Dec. 7, but will take them up to Dec. 8.
Ms. Perry said the chapter is hoping to raise at least $1,000 from the yard sale. Proceeds will be used for local services provided by the Red Cross.
