FREMONT -- A Fremont man was murdered early this morning leaving police and other area law enforcement officials scrambling to find his alleged killers.
The body of 46-year-old Ricky Holt was found between 3:30 and 4 a.m. just a few feet away from his home at 406 S. Sycamore St., Fremont police Chief Wayne Schwark said.
A resident who lived at the home where Holt's body was found, heard a noise, which roused him from his sleep, Schwark said.
"He heard a noise and saw a black male and black female run from the house that he was sleeping in," Schwark said. "The body was found in front of his house."
A motive for the murder was unknown, Schwark said.
Moments after the murder, units of the Fremont Police Department, Pikeville Police Department and the Wayne County Sheriff's Department arrived to investigate the murder and a manhunt for the two suspects immediately ensued.
One of the suspects is described as a black female who stands about 5 feet 6 inches tall. She was last seen wearing a white sweater and dark-colored jeans or pants. The other suspect is described as a black male who stands about 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing dark-colored clothing and a white ball cap.
Anyone with information about this murder is asked to call Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers can remain anonymous and could receive up to $1,000 cash if their information leads to a felony arrest.
