Late Milas Kelly Sr. honored for role in establishing Credit Union network

The State Employees' Credit Union's board of directors posthumously honored Milas Dorsey Kelly, Sr. for his role in helping to establish the Credit Union's statewide branch network. Milas Kelly Jr. accepted the award on behalf of his father.
The award recognizes the late Mr. Kelly's leading an initiative in 1968 on behalf of his co-workers, to encourage the management and SECU board of directors to provide convenient service locations for state employees in Goldsboro and all across North Carolina.
He emphasized the superior service that would result to members from local branches. As a direct result of Mr. Kelly's advocacy, the Credit Union opened the doors of its Goldsboro, North Carolina branch that same year.
A copy of the resolution honoring Kelly will hang in the Goldsboro location on West Ash Street, as well as in the corporate offices of State Employees' Credit Union in Raleigh.
David D. King, chairman of SECU's Board of Directors, said Kelly's vision "showed SECU a new path and led the way toward a brighter future for all State Employees' Credit Union members."
