ROXBORO -- Person County sheriff's deputies nabbed a Wayne County couple who allegedly tried to solicit sex from a teen they met in an Internet chatroom.

John Dunn, 42, and his wife, Sandra Foster Dunn, 35, of Country Acres Road, were arrested on felony charges Oct. 17, Person County Sheriff Dennis M. Oakley said. Mrs. Dunn was being held on a $200,000 bond and Dunn was being held on a $250,000 bond, Oakley added.

The charges stem from allegations that the Dunns recruited what they believed to be a 14-year-old girl, but was actually a male deputy, for a sexual encounter, Oakley said.

The couple planned to meet the alleged teen at Hardees, Oakley said. When the couple arrived about 9 p.m., officers moved in for the take down, Oakley said.

"They were arrested in the back parking lot of Hardees," Oakley said.

Oakley said Dunn was a paramedic who worked for AmMed, and Mrs. Dunn worked for Undercover Wear, a store that sold lingerie and sex toys.

Dunn, who was wanted for bad checks, was also charged with felony conspiracy, soliciting a child by computer and driving on a revoked license. Mrs. Dunn was charged with felony conspiracy and soliciting a child by computer.

Oakley lauded his deputy for taking the couple whom he deemed as "sexual predators" off the streets.

"If you can get the sexual predators off the streets, you can make the world safer," he said. "They could have done anything to that 14-year-old child including murder. It makes me shudder to think that there are people out there that would do something like that."

Oakley said this wasn't his deputy's first time rounding up Internet predators. Oakley said his deputy recently collared a Raleigh man who owned a computer store.
