A Goldsboro man faces charges for allegedly slicing his wife's right arm with a machete during a domestic squabble at their home Saturday.
Eldon Ray Davidson, 45, of North Breazeale Ave., was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in connection with the incident that occurred about 4:30 p.m.
"He and his wife, Janice, got into an argument," Wayne County Sheriff's spokesman Capt. George Raecher said. "She thought that he was going to hurt a lady that was there. She picked up a pickaxe. He picked up a machete, swung it at her and cut her pretty bad."
Raecher said Davidson allegedly was intoxicated at the time of the altercation.
Mrs. Davidson sustained a severe cut to her right elbow, according to Wayne County sheriff's reports. Mrs. Davidson was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment and Eldon Davidson was taken to the Wayne County Jail. He was being held on a $4,999 bond.
Wayne County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Mike Kabler is investigating the case.
