KENANSVILLE -- Thomasine Kennedy of Chinquapin has been named chairman of the board of Duplin General Hospital.

She succeeds A. Ray Sanderson, who stepped down after serving on the board for nearly 28 years.

Mrs. Kennedy has served on the hospital board since 1988 and has been its secretary since 1992. She retired in January as assistant director of Eastpointe Human Service. She previously worked as a public school teacher and administrator for 30 years.

Earl Brinkley Sr. of Wallace was named to fill Sanderson's seat on the 12-member board.
