'Booze It and Lose It' totals

Goldsboro police handed out 366 citations during a three-week campaign designed to take drunken drivers off the roads. The campaign dubbed "Booze It & Loose It" ran from Aug. 17 through Sept. 3.
Police handed out 121 citations during the Labor Day weekend alone. Officers set up one license checkpoint and conducted 16 saturation patrols.
Among the charges filed were five DWIs, three illegal drug violations, 52 speeding charges, 10 driving while license revoked charges and 11 other criminal charges.
During the three weeks, Wayne authorities charged 17 people with driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and 82 for speeding. Fifteen people were charged with possession of illegal drugs and 40 other criminal charges were filed.
Eighty-two people were charged with speeding, 28 for driving while license revoked and nine for having no insurance.
