A North Carolina history class at Wayne Community College is seeking information and artifacts related to Wayne County's barbecue heritage.

The class, led by instructor Charlotte Brow, is developing an exhibit for the Wayne County Museum that will run from the end of November through December.

The 14 students will research the history of restaurants in the county, locate artifacts, and lay out the exhibit.

Students will be contacting existing restaurants this month but they also are interested in restaurants that have closed, and other barbecue-related topics such as pig-pickings. They would like to borrow or copy any memorabilia, photos, and other items to display.

The class needs all items by mid-October. Call Mrs. Brow at (919) 735-5151, ext. 746 about information or items that can be shared for this exhibit.
