Statutory rape
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has charged Manfred Jennings Hood III, 30, of Falling Creek Church Road, with four counts of first degree statutory rape. He was placed under $400,000 bond Wednesday following investigation into a report of sexual assault against a 14-year old girl.
Drug arrests
The Goldsboro Wayne County Drug Squad has charged four Goldsboro people after searching two homes Wednesday.
Following a search of two rooms in a house on A Street the squad charged Bobby Harvey, 25, and Shonshi Chavez, 18, with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and felony maintaining a dwelling. Harvey was also charged with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. Ms. Chavez was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
They were both placed under $50,000 bond.
Crime Stoppers assisted in the investigation.
After another search at a house on Wayne Avenue the squad charged Bobby DeAngelo Harrington, 32, and Laura Lee Shamble, 52, of the Wayne Avenue address, with one count each of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and felony maintaining a dwelling. Harrington was also charged with possession of a stolen firearm.
He was placed under $50,000 bond. Her bond was $40,000.
The squad seized the firearm and the marijuana, which had a street value of about $1,000.
Investigations
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating these reports:
*Thieves broke into the Old Grantham Road home of Charles Henry Darden Sr. and took guns, ammunition, cash and jewelry valued at $5,140. Among the stolen items were three rifles, a shotgun and three hand guns.
*Morris Banks Pate of Vail Road said thieves broke into his home and took $3,055 worth of items, including a television, speaker, VCR, a 45- caliber handgun and jewelry. They also did $250 worth of damages.
*Would-be thieves did $330 worth of damage to the home of Alfonso Martinez Palomo on Genoa Road but Palomo said nothing appeared missing.
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating these reports:
*Employees discovered a break-in at Florida Tire, on W. Grantham St., Wednesday morning. Thieves took two tire machines, two impact wrenches, an air compressor, 100 used tires, a balance machine, floor jack and two jack stands, all valued at $15,185.
*Thieves broke into Audrea Dale's home on New Hope Road and took $900 worth of jewelry. Damage was set at $600.
