Campbell University Divinity School to offer classes at Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE -- A partnership has been formed between Mount Olive College and the Campbell University Divinity School, with Campbell offering courses at the Mount Olive campus that lead to a master of divinity degree.
The instructor for the first course, "Introduction to Theological Education," will be Dr. Michael Cogdill, dean of the Campbell Divinity School.
Other courses to be offered during the fall semester include "Worship and Spiritual Formation" and "Introduction to the New Testament."
A major focus of this partnership is to accommodate ministers and students from the Original Free Will Baptist tradition, of which Mount Olive is a part, to receive graduate theological education and training for Christian ministry.
"We are excited about this partnership. For years, many Mount Olive graduates have chosen Campbell Divinity School for their master's work in theological education and we have been blessed by their presence," Cogdill said. "Offering our classes on their campus will make that easier for their students as well as other students in eastern North Carolina."
Dr. K. David Hines, chair of the Mount Olive College Department of Religion, also is enthusiastic about this new program.
"Ministers in our Free Will Baptist churches are dedicated servants of God. Transforming this commitment to effective ministry requires preparation," he said. "Campbell Divinity School has a strong academic program, but also demonstrates an equally strong commitment to preparing ministers for the challenges of congregational ministry. We welcome this partnership to our campus."
