Summit Christian Academy will hold open house this week, with classes scheduled to resume on Monday.
Students and parents are invited to attend open house at the school on Thursday evening from 6-8, said Principal George Weidinger.
The school, affiliated with First Assembly of God, is located adjacent to the church on Summit Road. It was formerly Carter Christian on Ash Street, but moved and changed its name two years ago.
Summit has classes from kindergarten through eighth grade. According to the principal, it has 80 students but can accommodate up to 150.
Classes begin at 8 a.m. on Monday and follows the public schools' calendar throughout the year. The school is also aligned with the school system in other ways, Weidinger said.
The teachers and staff have been readying all summer for the coming year, Weidinger said.
"I think it's going to be a very positive year," he said.
"They've gotten all the rooms ready. There's an energy within the staff that's very exciting. We don't want to cut the summer short, but they're ready right now for students to come back."
