Wayne Community College has added a course on North Carolina history to its fall schedule.
The course is appropriate for both students enrolled in a credit program and community residents who are simply interested in their state's history, said instructor Charlotte Brow. Teachers who take the course can get renewal credit if the course would benefit their instruction.
The course covers the state's history from its first settlement. Topics include native and immigrant backgrounds, colonial, antebellum and Reconstruction periods, politics, race relations and economics.
The class will meet 5:30 - 8:20 p.m. on Wednesdays, Aug. 23 through Dec. 19. Registration will be held Thursday from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Aug. 18. For more information, contact Mrs. Brow at 735-5151.
