The Goldsboro Professional Firefighter's Association will hold its annual Fill-the-Boot campaign Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Wal-Mart on Spence Avenue.

The annual fundraiser is sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Association, along with firefighter groups across the country.

Last year, the national campaign raised more than $22 million to help families who have a loved one suffering from MS.

Local firefighters are urging people to contribute. They pointed out that all the money raised will go to help families in the Wayne County area.

Last year, local firefighters raised $8,261 during the weekend campaign.

The goal this year is $10,000, said Rob Loreman, chairman of the campaign and a member of the Goldsboro Fire Department.

"The public has been great," Loreman said. "It's a good cause."
