Wayne Christian prepares for 20th anniversary year

Wayne Christian School began its 20th year of operation when the school year opened on Thursday with a record enrollment of 425 students.
Officials at the school say there are plans this year to enhance the fine arts department, with an emphasis on music, drama and visual arts. The goal for the arts department will be to complement the academic and athletic programs already in place at the school.
Several new faculty members have been added to the roster. These include Lee Ann Minnick, teaching high school math and science; Renee Taylor in kindergarten; Regan Kaler, math and social studies; and Carol Moore in the middle school.
The new position of director of fine arts will be filled by Rick Moore, who will also teach high school math. Delores Gray will be chorus director and music teacher.
Another new program for the coming school year is a classroom curriculum designed for academically gifted students. The program will be piloted in the fifth and sixth grades, with plans to expand it into the junior high. Joan Herrington will be the teacher for these students.
An exciting year lies ahead for Wayne Christian students and their families, said school representative Barbara Sheldon.
"The school board and faculty remain committed to educating children to equip them to live Godly, productive lives and to view all knowledge through the lens of a Biblical worldview," she said.
