The Association of Mexicans in North Carolina is looking for sponsors for the upcoming 4th Annual Celebration of the Raza Festival.
This year's festival will be held on Sept. 16 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Mount Olive College, 634 Henderson Street.
Juvencio Rocha Peralta, president of the Association of Mexicans in North Carolina, said he expects the festival to attract more than 6,000 people from various counties living all over Eastern North Carolina.
He said the festival is "one vehicle we are using to encourage understanding and appreciation for Mexican culture and to instill pride in Mexican heritage among those of Latino descent who live in North Carolina."
He said those attending the festival will experience the tastes and smells of Mexico through outstanding food, art exhibitions and colorful and lively performances. He said the dances and music reflect Mexican culture and art that are preserved in the clothing and the instruments.
Children will compete for prizes at various fun and educational games.
"We see this event as a great opportunity for you to network and show your support for the Mexican and Latino community," Peralta said. "We will be honored to have you as a sponsor of the 4th Annual Raza Festival."
