Resident fights
off robber
As James Barnes was in his home relaxing at about noon Aug. 10, a tall black man kicked open his front door in an attempt to rob him, according to the Goldsboro Police report. The suspect entered the house holding a revolver and pushed Barnes to the ground. Barnes told officers he responded by grabbing a wooden board and hitting the suspect, who ran out of the house without taking anything. Damages for the door were estimated at about $50.
Missing
*The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is searching for 17-year-old Brianna Senters. She was last seen at her home on the 1700 block of Hood Swamp Road on Wednesday. She is described as white, 5-foot-1-inch tall with blonde hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a gray sweater, faded jean shorts and flip flops. She also has a scar under her chin.
*Family members filed a report with the Goldsboro Police Department searching for Rhianone Aycock. She was last seen on Aug. 8 at about 8 p.m. on the 1300 block of North George Street. She was described as a white, 26 years old, 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She has brown hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a white shirt and jean shorts.
*Goldsboro police are searching for 14-year-old Dedria Paradise. Her mother filed a report saying she was last seen on the 200 block of Rosewood Drive at about 4 a.m. today. She was described as black with black hair and brown eyes, weighing about 115 pounds. She was last seen wearing a hooded black sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Diner robbery
Someone stole about $400 from the Eagles Nest Diner on the 500 block of N.C. 581 South sometime between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 9 and Thursday morning. Amber Capps told Wayne County Sheriff's deputies that the alarm to the diner went off at about 9 p.m. Wednesday. Ms. Capps' mother went to check on the diner and everything seemed in order. Shortly after the first visit, the alarm to the store went off again. When Ms. Capps' mother returned, she found that the back door had been pried open and the money box had been stolen.
Stereo stolen
Melanie Kendall told Wayne County Sheriff's deputies that her SUV was broken into sometime between 9 a.m. Aug. 7 and 6 p.m. Thursday while it was parked on the 100 block of Laura Lane. Stolen were a $100 compact disc player, a $100 amplifier and about $240 worth of speaker equipment.
Vandalism
Someone caused about $600 worth in damage to Devon Hill's 1991 Chevrolet Corsica by scratching the hood, doors and trunk of the car. Hill told Wayne County Sheriff's deputies that he believes it happened between 7 p.m. Aug. 9 and 8 p.m. Aug. 10 while his car was parked on the 200 block of Denning Road in Dudley.
Stolen wallet
Jeffrey Wheeler told Goldsboro Police officers that his wallet, containing more than $7,500 in cash, was either lost or stolen while he was parked on the 2000 block of Wayne Memorial Drive early Thursday.
Jewelry stolen
A 14-karat yellow gold ladies ring with an emerald cut diamond worth more than $13,000 was stolen from the home of Jeri Bailey on the 3100 block of Cashwell Drive.
Guns stolen
Sometone stole a 9mm Glock, two shotguns, a 12-gauge rifle, a .38-caliber pistol, lawnmower, weedeater, two television sets, a DVD player and stereo from Laura Exum's home, police said. The items were valued at $2,000 and damages were estimated at $400.
