The Wayne County Building Inspections Department issued 59 building permits in July, and all but three were for residential work. One was the 7,796-square-foot Wal-Mart project in Mount Olive at a construction cost of almost $6.3 million.
The other two were for storage space and some offices. Four of the residential permits were for in-ground swimming pools.
The total construction cost of all the projects came to almost $12.4 million, with the most expensive home costing about $450,000 for 5,441 square feet.
The residential permits included 36 for new construction, 15 for additions and renovations and another one to relocate a house.
