WCC business team earns trophies at national competition in Nashville, Tenn.

Members of the Wayne Community College chapter of the Phi Beta Lambda business education student organization placed in three competitive events at the 2006 National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn.
In team events, Christopher Thomas, Joshua Berens, and Justin Currin earned fourth place in network design. Joshua Berens placed eighth place in telecommunications and Dustin Gurley came in eighth in website development in the individual competitions.
Also representing Wayne Community College's Gamma Chi chapter were Dana Hine, Robert Mitchell, John Martin, Nathen Rennels, and Jesse Talton, and chapter advisors Michael Everett and Tracy Schmeltzer. The chapter had earned the right to compete in seven categories by taking first and second place in those events at the state level.
Wayne Community's chapter was one of 22 student and professional chapters that made up a delegation of 125 members, advisors, and professional division members representing North Carolina. More than 1,700 delegates from 26 states attended the four-day conference.
The N.C. Phi Beta Lambda chapter won three second-place honors in student chapter categories: Largest State Chapter Membership in the southern region and nationally, with 729 members, and for State Recruitment of Chapters, with three. It was recognized as having the largest state chapter professional division membership both in the southern region and nationally, with 214 members.
