Drug charges
Four people were arrested Wednesday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with felony drug offenses after an investigation and search of an apartment in the 700 block of Longleaf Avenue.
The resident, Antwain Marque Grantham, 20, and Heather Danielle Pierce, 20, of Memorial Church Road, Fremont, were charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling cocaine and marijuana.
Grantham also was arrested by Wayne County Sheriff's Office after being charged by Greene County authorities with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana.
Grantham was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a two secured bonds totaling $200,000. Ms. Pierce was jailed in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond.
Ricky J. Sutton, 22, of Thoroughfare Road and April Kim Campbell, 26, of Wildwood Court were charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. Each was jailed in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond.
School bus fire
A predawn fire today destroyed a school bus at Christian Care Academy at 3353 U.S. 13 South, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
A citizen saw the fire at 4:09 a.m. and called 911. Grantham volunteer firefighters put out the fire that may have started in a garbage box near the door of the bus, the report said.
Patrol deputies notified Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Carl Lancaster, who had the bus stored. The 1986 Ford was valued at $1,500.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A white 2000 Chevrolet Astro van, tools, cable equipment and three ladders were stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from the 200 block of Robinson Drive, sheriff's deputies said. The owner and resident, William Michael Irvin, put a $7,200 value on the van and a $6,600 value on his other property.
*A Les Paul guitar and sound equipment were stolen from a house in the 900 block of Faro Road, deputies said. The owner, John Thomas Ball Jr. of Faison, put a $2,558 value on his property.
*A compact disc player and about 100 CDs were stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from car in the 1000 block of Harris Street, Goldsboro police said. The owner and resident, Lawrence Burton, said his property was worth $1,500.
*A hand-held computer was stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday after a van window was smashed in the 300 block of Maddux Drive, deputies said. The owner and resident, Michael David O'Toole, estimated the computer's value at $400 and damage at $150.
*A tool box and tools were stolen Wednesday from a garage in the 100 block of Birchwood Drive, deputies said. The resident, F.H. Porter, said the property was worth $1,900.
*A toilet was stolen after a door was damaged at a rental mobile home in the 300 block of Price Road, deputies said. The owner, Lynn Davenport of Seven Springs, said the toilet's value was $60 and set damage at $300.
*Six rods and reels and a tackle box were stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from a home in the 100 block of South Running Deer Circle, deputies said. The resident, D.B. Green, put a $300 value on the property. Gunshots also inflicted about $400 in damages to siding and a wall of the home.
*An Amana air conditioner was stolen between July 1 and Wednesday from a home in the 200 block of Fox Drive, deputies said. The owner, Mack Murray of Goldsboro, said the unit was worth $5,000.
*A yellow Vento scooter was stolen Wednesday from a carport in the 400 block of Rollingwood Drive, deputies said. The owner and resident, Anthony Lashawn Wynn, said the scooter's value was $1,600.
Body found
The body of a 60-year-old man was found Wednesday behind his storage barn, the Wayne County Sheriff's Department reported.
The victim was identified as Billy Wayne Patterson of 2057 O'Berry Road, Mount Olive. His death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, detectives said.
False pretense
Goldsboro police arrested a 37-year-old man and charged him with fraud.
Nathaniel Alston of Rudolph Street was charged Tuesday with obtaining property by false pretense. Alston was accused of getting a $44.20 refund for property, that he had picked up from the shelves and had not bought, from Lowe's Home Improvement Center. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Correction
A story in the June 16 edition of the News-Argus stated incorrectly that Lisa Poland, Brandon Lee Briggs and Davey Wayne Moore were charged with assault on a female near Pikeville. Another person alleged that she had been assaulted, but no charges have been filed.
Missing
A 15-year-old boy was reported missing Wednesday to Goldsboro police. Michael L. Bellamy of 1202-B Olivia Lane was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 109 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. When Bellamy was seen last at 3 p.m. Saturday, he was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans, black and yellow boots and an earring. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call police at 705-6572.
