Women assaulted

Two women were injured Thursday in separate assaults, according to reports filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

Jennifer Louise Collins, 35, of Union Grove Church Road, Fremont, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released. Ms. Collins said she was visiting a man in his home on Spencer Road at about 3 p.m. when he assaulted her.

Karen Elaine Gregory, 31, of Carla Ann Drive, Pikeville, declined hospital treatment, the report said. Ms. Gregory said a man broke into her home, struck her, took her shotgun and chased her. But her dog bit the man, who drove off in a pickup truck. The shotgun was recovered.

Accidents

*A private school van with 26 passengers and another van collided at 9:50 a.m. Thursday on the U.S. 70 bypass, near the Wayne Memorial Drive exit, Goldsboro police said. No one was injured. The driver of the van for Christian Care Academy -- Robert Kirk Holland, 39, of West April Lane -- was charged with a safe-movement violation. Damages were set at $1,000.

*A Goldsboro driver was injured and both vehicles were destroyed in a wreck at 3:48 p.m. Thursday at North William and 11th streets, police said. Akeem Dodson, 18, of North Point Drive was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Dodson was charged with a safe-movement violation.

*A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $10,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Country Club and Cox Pond roads, the Highway Patrol said. James Keith Summerlin, 39, of Country Club Road was released after emergency-room treatment. He was charged with driving while impaired and improper passing.

*Three people were injured and damages were estimated at $6,700 in a two-vehicle collision at 5 p.m. Monday at Tommy's and Hare roads, the Highway Patrol said. Connie Lynn Savery, 40, and her passengers, Brianna Lynn Savery, 15, and Heather Renee Nye, 17, all of South Tiffany Road, were released after emergency-room treatment. Travis Ray Butts, 18, of Arrington Bridge Road, Seven Springs, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign.

*Four passengers were injured and damages were put at $5,500 in a two-vehicle crash at 6:56 p.m. Monday at U.S. 117 and Smith Chapel Road, the Highway Patrol said. Shaunda Latresha Pride, 27, of Preacher Henry Road, Faison, and Jerry Peacock, 48, Michael Washington, 44, and Reginald Allen Cobb, 38, all of Clinton, were released after emergency-room treatment. Michael Terrance Pride, 28, of Preacher Henry Road, Faison, was charged with a yield violation.

*A driver was injured and her minivan demolished in a wreck at 3:19 p.m. Monday on U.S. 70 near Lake Wackena Road, the Highway Patrol said. Betty Jewel Holloman, 58, of Gold Park Drive, Dudley, was listed today in fair condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was charged with speeding.

Investigations

Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:

*Rare coins and a shotgun were stolen from a home in the 300 block of Hare Road, deputies said. Henry Smith valued the coins at $4,000 and the shotgun at $380.

*Computer equipment, video-game equipment, DVDs, coins and other property were stolen from a home in the 100 block of Dale Road near Mount Olive, deputies said. Deborah Covington of Elon put a $2,934 value on her son's property.

*A floor buffer, a backpack vacuum cleaner and a booster power box were stolen from a home under construction in the 200 block of Gator Drive, deputies said. The property, owned by John Whiteside of Pikeville, was valued at $2,500.

*A computer, 52- and 19-inch televisions, a DVD player and a window air conditioner were stolen from a home in the 100 block of Woodland Acres Avenue. The resident, Timothy Ray Mozingo, put a $2,900 value on the property.

*Video-game equipment and a DVD player were stolen Thursday after a door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of Kevin Drive, deputies said. Chris Keith Hargrove estimated the value of the stolen property at $460 and damage at $200.

*A window air conditioner and five pants suits were stolen from a home in the 200 block of Southern Drive. The property was valued at $450.

*A red, four-door 2002 Ford Explorer was stolen from the 3700 block of East Ash Street, police said. Ivan Padilla Garcia, put an $18,000 value on his vehicle.

Missing

A 16-year-old youth was reported missing today by relatives to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Javonta Taylor of 107 Rachel Drive was described as black, 5-feet-9 and 165 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was seen last at 1 p.m. Thursday. No clothing description was available. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
