Waynesborough Summerfest this weekend

Waynesborough Historical Village will hold its annual two-day Summerfest this weekend, featuring 19th-century games and contests, food and entertainment and living history demonstrations.
The festivities begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and will continue through 5 p.m. On Sunday, a worship service will be held at the Bethany Friends Meeting House in the village and activities will again continue until 5 p.m.
Games will include tug-of-war, sack races, bobbing for apples, Lucky Duck, hopscotch and horseshoes, a watermelon-eating contest and a seed spitting contest.
Inside the Visitor's Center there will be story telling by Granny Tillie Mae.
Entertainment will in-clude dulcimer music by Waterbound Dulcimers and other groups, including Busharbor and Samantha and the Bluegrass Band. Vendors will be on hand with craft items and plenty of food. Black Jack Grove Free Will Baptist Church will prepare barbecue
chicken plates, and the village's general store will
be open with hot dogs for sale.
At some point during the day on Saturday, living history demonstrators dressed as Civil War soldiers will "raid" the village.
Activities Sunday continue until 5 p.m. with music by Busharbor and the Wayco Ramblers. Musicians are invited to bring their instruments and join in the show. Fiddles, guitars, harmonicas, spoons "and whatever" are welcome, officials at the village said.
