4 hurt in wrecks
Four people were injured in four recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A bicyclist was struck by a car at 9:03 p.m. Saturday on North Berkeley Boulevard at the entrance to the El Korita restaurant, Goldsboro police said. Joseph Ervin Raine, 39, of Woodbine Street was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. The driver who was turning into the parking lot -- Juan Carlos Huerta Gil, 20, of Greenfield Cemetery Road, Seven Springs -- was charged with a safe-movement violation. Raine was charged with having a bicycle without a headlight. Damage was set at $200 to the car.
*Two people were injured in a three-vehicle, rear-end collision at 3:35 p.m. Saturday at North Berkeley Boulevard and Cashwell Drive, police said. One driver, Brittany Renaye Dudley, 16, of Hunter's Creek Drive, and her passenger, Timothy Joseph Moore, 18, of Cambria Lane, were released after emergency-room treatment. A second driver, Jordan Michael Jenkins, 16, of Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, was charged with failure to reduce speed. The other motorist was Carlos S. Vick, 20, of Charles Street. Damages were put at $4,300.
*A man on a moped was injured in collision at 5:19 p.m. Wednesday on Salem Church Road near Buck Swamp Road, the Highway Patrol said. Casey Brandon Smith, 22, of North Beston Road, LaGrange, was released after emergency-room treatment. The driver of a pickup truck that was pulling a trailer, Lounes Isizer Blackman, 60, of Perkins Road, was charged with improper passing. The moped sustained about $800 in damages. The pickup was not damaged.
*Damages were estimated at $5,500 in a two-vehicle crash at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Pikeville-Princeton Road and the entrance to Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, the Highway Patrol said. A driver leaving the church parking lot, Gordon Elwood Carter, 84, of Pope Street, Pikeville, was charged with a yield violation. The westbound driver was Richard Justin Brown, 23, of Old Smithfield Road.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A 25-horsepower John Deere lawn tractor was stolen between Friday and Saturday from Quality Farm Equipment Co. at 2110 U.S. 70 West, deputies said. The thief had cut a section of fence to enter the yard and then removed tailgates from trucks to use them as a ramp to load the tractor, the report said. The mower was valued at $10,500.
*Two firearms were stolen between March 11 and Friday after two doors were damaged at a home in the 1700 block of Indian Springs Road, deputies said. The guns were valued at $100. Damage was set at $300 at the E.C. Kornegay home.
Break-ins
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A compact disc player was stolen Sunday after a car window was smashed in a parking lot in the 2200 block of East Ash Street, police said. The owner, Tina L. Sherrod of Goldsboro, estimated the player's value at $150 and damage at $150.
*A combination radio and compact disc player was stolen between Saturday and Sunday after a car window was broken in the 1500 block of East Holly Street, police said. The owner, Joe Timothy Barnes of Goldsboro, estimated the property's value at $275 and damage at $100.
Missing
A 24-year-old Goldsboro man was reported missing by relatives to Goldsboro police. Ahmad R. Jones of 1401 S. Slocumb St. was described as black, 5-feet-9 and 165 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion. He has not been seen since May 24 when he left with friends to go to New York City, although he called May 25. Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked to call police at 705-6572.
