El-Roy volunteer firefighters help Leticia Reid onto a stretcher following a head-on collision on N.C. 581 Thursday. Before removing her from the car, the crew was forced to remove the driver's side door. Mrs. Reid was driving a van from We Are the World Child Care when the vehicle was struck by an oncoming pickup truck that had crossed the center line, Wayne County law enforcement officials said.
