Rec department has activities for wide variety of interests

Want to learn to play tennis? Attend a tea party? Spend a day in the park enjoying music and games?
Goldsboro Recreation and Parks Department will offer this and more this summer. All activities are free unless otherwise noted.
Here's what's on the schedule ...
Youth athletics
Youth tennis lessons: ages 7-13, Tuesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 4, 6-7 p.m., Herman Park, $40 for four-week session. To register: Parks and Recreation main office. 739-7488.
Eurotech soccer camp: Ages 4-14, times and dates to be announced, Family YMCA soccer fields, $90. To register by June 12: Parks and Recreation main office. 739-7488.
Adult athletics
Adult tennis lessons: ages 14 and up, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-8 p.m., $55 for fourr-week session. 739-7488.
Summer gyms: Gyms open for pick-up basketball games, Goldsboro Middle School and Dillard Middle School, ages 7 to adult, Mondays-Thursdays, 5-9 p.m. 739-7488.
Senior citizen activities
Grandkids' Day: Games and activities for grandparents and grandchildren, Monday, June 26, 11 a.m., Herman Park Center. Bring bagged lunch and swim suit. To register by June 19: 739-7486.
Grand Ladies Tea Party: Dress-up event for grandmothers and granddaughters, Wednesday, July 19, 2 p.m., Herman Park Center. To register by July 12: 739-7486.
Special populations
Friendship Connection Camp: Two-week day camp for ages 6-15 with specialized needs, July 10-21, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Herman Park Center. To register: 739-7489.
Pet therapy: Began April 25, runs through Aug. 22, fourth Tuesday of each month, 10:30-11:30 a.m., Herman Park Center. To register: 739-7489.
Youth activities
Big Wheel Drive-In: Bring Big Wheel, tricycle or Power Wheels, watch movie and have snack, July 15, 2 p.m., Herman Park Center. $2 per vehicle. 739-7491.
Summer day camp: Group games, arts and crafts, field trips, water fun and more, ages 5-12, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m., June 19-30, July 3-14 (no camp July 4), July 17-28 and July 31-Aug. 11, Herman Park Center, $80 per two-week session. Adult activities
Stroller walkers: Fitness class where moms push their babies in strollers, Mondays and Thursdays, 10-11:30 a.m., Dillard Track or Berkeley Mall depending on weather.
