It will be jazzy today on George

Blankets, lawn chairs and plenty of jazz -- all under the stars.
The Downtown Goldsboro Development Corp. will host Jazz on George tonight, a new music event inspired by an interest from local residents in bringing fresh sounds to the city.
At 6 p.m., Devin Robinson will kick the night off in the vacant lot at 107 S. George St. For the last 15 months, Robinson has been on tour with Tops in Blue, an Air Force ensemble. During that time he has played in 27 countries.
The second act, Lightnin' Wells, has been performing blues tunes for more than 30 years, and combines modern sounds with more vintage ones.
The headliner, Adrian Duke, is a native of North Carolina. He is widely known for his four albums and their mix of blues and jazz.
Much like the Center Street Jam events hosted by the DGDC, Jazz on George will have local vendors serving food and beverages. Hams, Pizza Inn and Brooklyn Pizza are among the food vendors and Coca Cola, which will donate all proceeds to the Wayne County Boys and Girls Club, will serve drinks.
The DGDC will continue events through the weekend, as it hosts the Narrated Historic Trolley Tour Saturday at 12 p.m. The event begins with lunch at Billie's and continues with a horse-drawn trolley ride narrated by Goldsboro's historian Danny Davis.
