Two teens pick
wrong yard to stop
Two teenagers picked the wrong yard to turn around in Tuesday.
The teens had stopped their van in the back yard of Wayne County Sheriff's Capt. Buddy King on Stoney Creek Church Road and got it stuck.
A neighbor reported that she had seen the two walk around the house. King and two deputies arrived at the house and handcuffed the teens next to the van.
The teens told Deputy C.T. Arnold that they were turning around and got stuck in the yard. When Arnold asked them why the did not use the driveway, they said there was not enough room. But Arnold said there was plenty of room. Damage to the yard was estimated at $100.
The older teen, Gregory Debarge Wooten, 18, of Laurel Patch Drive, was charged with injury to personal property, the yard, and second-degree trespass. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 secured bond.
The other teen who is 13 was charged in a juvenile petition with second-degree trespass and released to his mother. He was not identified because of his age.
A resident on Combs Road also reported a break-in Tuesday but said nothing had been stolen.
Razor assault
A Goldsboro man was slashed Tuesday on the face and neck with a razor blade, and another man was arrested and charged with the crime, according to a Goldsboro police report.
Rock Taylor, 48, told officers that the man approached him and assaulted him at about 1:30 p.m. in a home in the 800 block of Crawford Street.
Taylor was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was listed today in good condition, a spokeswoman said.
Taylor and a witness identified the alleged assailant. Less than two hours later, police arrested Kenneth DeKeyser Jr., 38, of Wilmington Avenue at his home.
DeKeyser was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill while inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
Heroin seized
A 24-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Tuesday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with three felony drug offenses in his home in then 500 block of West New Hope Road.
Carl Anthony Jackson was charged with trafficking in heroin by possession of more than 14 grams, possession of cocaine and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling drugs, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $30,000 secured bond.
Heroin with a street value of $4,000 and a firearm were seized by officers.
Driver injured
A driver from Wilson was injured in a two-car collision Tuesday at Wayne Memorial and Lockhaven drives, Goldsboro police reported. Leonard Yelverton, 75, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
The other driver, Morgan Jeanee Wheeler, 19, of Community Drive, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision at 1:30 p.m. Damages were set at $2,300.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A shotgun, a pistol, two electric guitars, a guitar processor and a video game system were stolen Tuesday from a home in the 2900 block of U.S. 13 North, deputies said. The thief had smashed a door glass to get inside. The resident, Kelvin Seymour, estimated the value of the stolen property at $2,584 and damage at $100.
*A yellow and black Yamaha four-wheeler was stolen between Saturday and Tuesday from a barn in the 4000 block of Central Heights Road, deputies said. The resident, Steve G. Grady, put a $1,000 value on the vehicle.
Thefts
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Two televisions, a stereo and a window air conditioner were stolen between Monday and Tuesday after an interior door lock was cut at a building in the 200 block of North George Street, police said. The owner, Deborah Higgins, estimated the stolen property's value at $6,509 and damage at $20.
*A radio was stolen between Saturday and Tuesday after a vehicle window was smashed at Deacon Jones Nissan at 1220 W. Grantham St., police said. Damage was set at $100. The radio's value was not listed.
*A green, four-door 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis was stolen between April 25 and Tuesday from the 800 block of Pou Street, police said. The owner, Jay Mark Bombassi of Jacksonville, said he had left his keys on a table at the home and when he started to leave, the car was missing. It was valued at $6,000.
