It's just about time for pickles in Mount Olive

The 20th annual North Carolina Pickle Festival will be held this weekend in downtown Mount Olive.

Events start Thursday at 1 p.m., with the Pickle Festival Golf Classic teeing off at the Southern Wayne Country Club.

On Friday, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Mount Olive merchants will be offering specials as part of Pickle Pete's Shopping Spree. On Friday night, the Coastline Band will play at the Mount Olive Airport from 8 p.m. until midnight. Admission is $7 in advance and $10 at the gate, with children 3 and younger admitted free. No coolers are allowed, but a beer garden and food will be available.

Also Friday night, carnival rides will be open for $9 per person in downtown Mount Olive.

On Saturday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., downtown will be lined with exhibits, food and entertainment. Appearing at the festival are Miss North Carolina, the N.C. Pickle Princesses, a bicycle stunt team and mechanical bull, among many other attractions.

Entertainment includes Life on the Line, Idle Threat, The Southern Breeze Band and the Back Beat.
