Meter stolen
Zeb Langston of Harris Street said someon stole an electric meter valued at $375 owned by Progress Energy from his rental property at Devereaux Street. Roy Clayton Everett reported damage to two meter boxes at $2,000 and two electrical meters, also owned by Progress Energy, at $375 each, at his rental property at 1400 E. Ash Street.
Investigations
Wayne County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating these reports:
*Holly Lynn Canady, 16, of Genoa Road, Dudley, reported receiving harassing phone calls. Ms. Canady told deputies the person on the phone said they would "kill her boyfriend because they were from the South and he was from the North."
*Thomas Kevin Smith of Daw Pate Road, Pikeville, reported a window broke and several items missing from his home Tuesday morning. Damage to the double pane window was set at $150, while the missing items, including an American Express travel card, 20-gauge shotgun, 25 DVDs and 10 VHS cassettes, were valued at over $1,600.
*Derrick Wayne Crumpler of N.C. Highway 111 North reported a deer stand valued at $225 stolen from a field behind Stoney Creek apartments last week.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Jonathan Edwards of Edwards Truck Service said someone took nine car stereos from vehicles parked in the company's storage area on N.C. Highway 117 South . The stereos were valued at $1,400 total. Damage to a passenger window was set at $150. Also missing were a 350 watt amp, set at $250, and a 10-inch subwoofer, valued at $200.
*Vicky Grzybek of The Pantry at 2606 N. William St. said a black man in his 20s stole seven cartons of cigarettes valued at $350.
*Michael Glenn Cox of Chapel Hill told police that when preparing to return home after visiting his mother in Goldsboro, he placed his .45-caliber Glock on top of his vehicle. Cox returned to Chapel Hill before realizing the gun was missing. The gun was valued at $650.
*Jean LaConna Ritchie of Antioch Road said someon stole her tan purse from a shopping cart in Wal-Mart Tuesday afternoon. The purse and its contents were valued at $250.
*Don L. Wood of Wal-Mart management said two women concealed two Leapster L-Max educational game systems in shopping bags, valued at $189.90. The items were later recovered.
*Lauren Brookshire Gill, 21, of Dudley, told police a black woman followed her into Wal-Mart and asked her to apologize for almost hitting her in the store's parking lot. When Ms. Gill refused, the woman punched and scratched her before walking away. The woman was described as about 20 years old, 5-feet-1 and wearing a pink or red shirt and jeans. She was driving a four-door white Dodge.
*Yolanda Murphy of Sears on Berkeley Boulevard reported an unknown white man entered the store and concealed and stole three "Chronicles of Narnia" DVDs valued at about $65. The man was described as 5-feet-6, about 240 pounds, with shoulder length brown hair, wearing blue jeans and a baseball hat and driving a blue and gray Dodge Dakota.
Accidents
*Margaret Rose Elizabeth Cline, 33, of Chandler Road, was charged with failure to see before turning after her car collided with one driven by Elizabeth Joy Hicks, 21, of Farmstead Circle, Dudley, on Ash Street. Mrs. Damage to Cline's vehicle was set at $2,500, and damage to Ms. Hicks' vehicle was set at $3,000.
*Rodney Lamar Coley, 28, of Alabama Avenue, was charged with driving left of center after the car he was driving struck the front quarter panel of a Jeep driven by Janet Coley Crocker, 56, of Nor Am Road in Pikeville. The wreck happened Monday on Old Grantham Road. Damage to the Chevrolet was set at $1,500, and $1,000 to the Jeep.
*Two vehicles suffered $1,800 in damages after a car driven by Donnie Marie Pipken, 26, of Connie Circle, was involved in an accident with a one driven driven by Christopher Mathew Thompson, 18, of Sheridan Road on N.C. Highway 581. Thompson was charged with failure to reduce speed.
*Larry Brandon Peacock, 19, off Princeton, was charged with exceeding a safe speed after his car hydroplaned, spun and came to rest along N.C. Highway 117. Damage to the vehicle was set at $6,000.
Correction
Christopher Minchew, who was listed in Superior Court cases in Sunday's newspaper, pleaded guilty to a violation of food and lodging establishment regulations, not the charge that was published, defrauding an innkeeper. He was credited with serving six days in jail while awaiting his sentencing and was released from custody.
