Drug arrests
After a joint investigation by the Goldsboro/Wayne County Drug Squad and the Raleigh office of the Drug Enforcement Administration, as well as a vehicle stop on William Street, two arrests were made Saturday on drug-related charges.
Walter Alexander Ruiz, 23, New Hope Road, Goldsboro, and Luz Elena Flores, 24, Oakley Road, Glen Burnie, Md., were charged with trafficking in cocaine by possessing more than 400 grams of cocaine, trafficking in cocaine by transporting more than 400 grams of cocaine and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of keeping and selling controlled substances.
They were each placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under $1 million secured bond.
Cocaine with a street value of approximately $590,000 was seized during the investigation. Wayne County Sheriff's Office and Goldsboro Police Department patrol officers and canines also assisted in the investigation.
Friday drug arrests
Three people were arrested Friday on drug charges after an investigation by the Goldsboro/Wayne County Drug Squad and the search of a residence in the 800 block of South Slocumb Street.
Lafonte Tyon Moses, 30, South Slocumb Street, was charged with one count each of possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana and felony maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling controlled substances. He was placed in Wayne County Detention Center under a $60,000 secured bond.
Rico Jovon Moses, 28, Park Avenue, was charged with one count of possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He was placed in Wayne County Detention Center under $50,000 secured bond.
Angel Mechell Hagans, 29, South Slocumb Street, was charged with one count each of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and felony maintaining a dwelling with the purpose of keeping and selling controlled substances. He was placed in Wayne County Detention Center under $60,000 secured bond.
Marijuana with a street value of approximately $1,200 was seized along with $12,167 in U.S. currency.
North Carolina ALE agents and Crimestoppers also assisted in the investigation.
Alcohol charges
Martin Lee Newsome, 76, North John Street, was charged with one count each of possession of lottery tickets and selling of alcoholic beverages without a permit.
He was arrested after a joint investigation by the North Carolina ALE and the Goldsboro/Wayne County Drug Squad and after a search of his residence. Crimestoppers also assisted in the investigation.
Breaking and entering
On Saturday, the Goldsboro Police Department Support Services Housing Unit and Specialized Enforcement Unit apprehended Bobby Suggs, 26, Taylor Street, in connection with the investigation of a March 21 breaking, entering and larceny to a motor vehicle. Warrants were secured and Suggs was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was held under secured bond of $25,000.
Investigations
Daisy Farrior, 65, N.C. 403, Mount Olive, told police that while her car was parked on Berkeley Boulevard on Saturday afternoon, her dog was stolen. She said the car had been secured and a window left partially open. The window was found completely open when she returned, and the black dachshund with brown face markings, valued at $250, was gone.
