Three students from Wayne County have been named recipients of Park Scholarships to North Carolina State University in the fall.

The Park Scholarships program is among America's most prestigious undergraduate merit scholarship programs. Each award, valued at $59,000, pays expenses for four years of study at N.C. State. It also includes a computer stipend and funds for academic enrichment activities.

Winners were selected from among 950 applicants. Selection was based on academic achievement, personal traits such as character, motivation, leadership potential, and commitment to the betterment of one's community.
