WCC program to focus on genocide in Sudan

Wayne Community College's Diversity and Global Education Committee will sponsor two lunch presentations and discussions Thursday on "Conflict in Darfur: Modern Day Genocid."
The programs are open to the public and will be held at noon and at 1 p.m. in room 101 of the Walnut Building.
Members of Students United for Darfur Awareness Now, a student organiation at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will provide an overview of the situation in Darfur, the western region of the Sudan, whose people, observers say, are is suffering widespread abuse at the hands of Sudanese government soldiers and members of the government-supported militia.
Reports have indicated the death toll may be more than 400,000 people and as many as two million civilians have been driven from their homes.
