Rep. Pate files for re-election

Republican Louis Pate Jr. filed for re-election for his North Carolina House of Representatives District 11 seat , making him the only candidate to file for office in Wayne and Duplin counties Thursday.
The offices up for election later this year are the Districts 1 and 3 seat of the United States Congress, the Districts 5 and 12 seats of the N.C. Senate, the Districts 10, 11, and 21 seats of the N.C. House, Court of Appeals judge and associate justice for the N.C. Supreme Court.
In Wayne County, residents can file for district attorney, Superior Court judge, District Court judge, Clerk of Court, Sheriff and the Districts 1, 4, 5 and 6 seats of the Board of Education.
Meanwhile, two more candidates filed for associate justice of the state Supreme Court. Mark D. Martin and Sarah Parker both filed as non-partisan candidates.
The filing period will continue until noon Feb. 28.

For information on filing in Duplin County, people can call the Duplin Board of Elections at 910-296-2170. The office is located on Mallard Street in Kenansville.
