Mount Olive picks assistant town manager

MOUNT OLIVE -- Downtown store owner Charles Brown is Mount Olive's new assistant town manager.
The Mount Olive Town Board of Commissioners elected Brown by secret ballot this morning prior to its budget work session in the Southern Bank board room next to Town Hall.
Brown has owned Southern Furniture and Interiors on North Center Street since June 2003.
He will replace current town manager Ray McDonald, who is retiring this year.
McDonald has been town manager for seven years and will stay on to train Brown.
The board started looking for a new assistant town manager in January, receiving 15 applications and then conducting final interviews last week.
