The 2005 award went to Lee Borden.

He and his wife, Jody, have been married 31 years. They have a son, Lee, who is a graduate of the business school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and lives in New York City, and a daughter, Christine, who is a recent interior architecture graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The Distinguished Citizen Award banquet is the scouts' biggest fund-raiser, and each year the Tuscarora Council's three districts present the award to one person. Tickets are available for donations of $200 and up. Proceeds go to the Tuscarora Council.
The Neusiok DCA banquet will be held March 21 in the First Baptist Church in Smithfield, and the Coharie DCA banquet will be held on April 20 in the Mad Boar Restaurant near Wallace. The Neusiok DCA recipient will be Hank Daniels, and the Coharie DCA recipient will be Grover Ezzell.
