Attempted robbery
at Salvation Army
Goldsboro police responded to a call from the Salvation Army, 610 N. William Street, Tuesday evening in reference to an alleged breaking and entering. Representatives from the organization said they saw a person enter their food storage building.
The responding officers talked to the man inside the building and he came out of the building and surrendered to police.
Inside the building, police found damage to a door and several frozen food items laying out.
James Henry Hicks was charged with five charges including, felony breaking and entering, larceny and damage to property charges, possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest. He is being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $30,000 secured bond.
Drug charges
A man was arrested Tuesday on felony drug charges. Rodney Lavotta Wooten, 33, of the streets of Goldsboro, was taken to Wayne County Jail and charged with felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. He is being held on $10,000 secured bond.
Two people were arrested Tuesday on felony drug charges. Sherrod Darden, 30, and Kimbula Devora Mizelle, 35, both of 206 Alpha Court, Apt. H, were charged with felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and maintaining a dwelling for those purposes. Both are being held in Wayne County Jail under $15,000 secured bond.
A man was charged Tuesday with a misdemeanor drug offense. John Robert Brown, 19, of 262 Brock Rd., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
A woman was charged Tuesday with a misdemeanor drug offense. Cynthia Annette Lee, 39, of 202 E. Walnut St., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
A woman was charged Tuesday with a misdemeanor drug offense. Debra Rochelle Benton, 43, of 616 N. John St., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She was also charged with DWI and was detained in the Wayne County Jail under $1,000 secured bond. No blood-alcohol content was provided in the police report.
Investigations
Ernest Coleman, of Dove Road, reported the theft of his black scooter and weed eater Tuesday. Coleman said he came outside and his property, valued at more than $3,000, was gone.
Fernando Hernandez Vazquez, of Central Heights Road, reported a break-in Tuesday, law enforcement officials said. Vazquez said his black Mustang was broken into and that more than $1,000 in property was taken from the car. Property missing includes a CD player, DVD player and amplifier.
