Police officer promoted

A Goldsboro police officer has been promoted to investigator, Chief Tim Bell announced Tuesday.
Dwayne Bevell, 30, had served as a patrol corporal since November, when he was promoted from patrol officer.
Bevell joined the Police Department on Aug. 19, 1998.
He graduated from Southern Wayne High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Mount Olive College in 1997. He then completed basic law enforcement training at Wayne Community College.
Bevell and his wife, Heather, have one child and attend Providence United Methodist Church.
