Sara Ann Baker, daughter of Robert and Karen Baker of Mount Olive, has been selected to present her senior thesis at the 20th Annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research.The conference typically receives 3,000 applications nationwide.

Miss Baker, a senior history student and North Carolina Teaching Fellow at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, wrote her thesis on the importance of the Dutch resistance during World War II.

Myra Rosette Frederick has received a bachelor of science degree in mass communications and a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and religion from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The 2001 graduate of Goldsboro High School is the daughter of Ruby Frederick of Fremont and Benjamin Frederick, III of Raleigh.

Two area students have been named to the dean's and chancellor's lists for the fall semester at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. The dean's list is made up of full-time students who have achieved between a 3.5 and 3.99 grade-point average; the chancellor's list is students who achieved a 4.0 grade-point average.

Mary Catherine Mills of LaGrange was named to the dean's list. Sara Ann Baker of Mount Olive is on the chancellor's list.
