County schools holding surplus sale Feb. 7

Wayne County Public Schools will hold a public auction Feb. 7 for equipment and vehicles that have been declared surplus, officials announced.

The sale for auction items ranging from computer equipment to band uniforms will begin at 9 a.m. at the school system's warehouse at 800 N. James St. behind the old G.E. plant. Afterwards, the sale will move to the maintenance shop on Salem Church Road, where surplus vehicles will be sold. Doors will open at 8 a.m. at the warehouse for the public to look at items prior to the sale.

Other items being sold in the auction include a shop table, duplicating fluid, fire extinguishers, storage and filing cabinets, a carpet machine, a wood bench, wooden teachers desk, office chairs, typing tables, pianos, bookcases, science tables, wood stove, box fans, a two-door reach-in freezer, metal flat-top student desks, several refrigerators and a reach-in cooler, a washing machine, dryer, small ice machine, toilet bowls, paint, a push lawnmower, car engine, two car jacks, and an array of shop equipment items.

On the list of vehicles are Ford F-150s, Chevy trucks, Dodge vans, as well as tractors and riding lawnmowers.
