Committee is organizing museum trip

The Wayne County Reads Committee is organizing a bus trip to Washington, D.C., in March to visit the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and other attractions.
The bus will leave Goldsboro at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, and the group will arrive in Washington for lunch. The group will visit the Holocaust museum in the afternoon and will also see the new World War II memorial and other national museums before returning Sunday night.
Per-Flo Tours of Goldsboro is making the arrangements and will provide a tour guide.
The cost of the trip is $225 per person for a twin room and $215 for triple accommodations and $285 for single. A $50 deposit from each participant will be due by Jan. 6, with the balance due Feb. 17.

The Wayne County Reads' 2006 book will be "Night," Nobel Peace Prize-winner Elie Wiesel's autobiographical account of his and his father's imprisonment in the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II.
Wayne County Reads kicks off its third season on Jan. 27 and continues through March. Copies of "Night" will be available at Wayne County libraries. The book is also available at the bookstores at Wayne Community College and Mount Olive College and at Books A Million.
The countywide reading project is organized by the library system, Wayne Community College, Mount Olive College, Wayne County Public Schools, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, the Arts Council of Wayne County, the Foundation of Wayne Community College, Friends of Wayne County Public Library and other community partners.
