Progress Energy officials say high winds Monday night caused a jumper burn-off on the main line causing the power to go out for a couple hours in the Forest Hills and Handley Acres area of Goldsboro.
Power was out a couple hours at the two subdivisions and for about an hour at Wal-Mart.
Ed Bradshaw with Progress Energy said the best he could tell was the winds caused the jumper work its way loose and burn out around 11:30 p.m. Monday.
Most of the power was back on quickly, but he said it took a couple hours to do repair work on the jumper, which caused the other places to remain out of power longer.
