Couple robbed
Two unarmed black men barged into a home in the 1900 block of East Beech Street on Sunday night and ordered the woman resident to hand over her money, according to a Goldsboro police report.
As the suspects looked for property, the woman fled to a bedroom and her husband called 911.
The suspects grabbed two gold necklaces and $14 and fled, the report said. The necklaces were valued at $400. The suspects inflicted about $155 in damages to a door and a window to enter the home during the burglary.
One suspect was described as being 6-feet and 200 pounds, and he wore a white cloth wrapped around his head and a black hood. The other was described as being tall, and he wore a black hood. Both were 18 to 23 years old.
Officer injured
A Goldsboro police officer was injured in a two-car collision at 11:25 p.m. Saturday at West Ash Street and a ramp to Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 117 bypass, Goldsboro police said.
Christopher Shannon Crawford, 32, of LaGrange was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
The other driver, Reba Hall Harris, 44, of Pebble Circle, was charged with a stoplight violation. The report said Ms. Harris was making a left turn from the exit ramp and her car collided with Crawford's eastbound patrol car. A westbound witness confirmed that Crawford had the green light, the report said.
Damage was estimated at $5,000 to the police car and $5,000 to Ms. Harris' auto.
In other collisions:
*A driver was injured in a one-car wreck at 11:30 p.m. Friday on U.S. 117 bypass, near Cross Street, police said. Tyronne Williams Jr., 19, of Lucama was released after emergency-room treatment. Williams told police that he had chest pains and the car ran off the right side into a field. Damage was set at $2,500. No charges were filed.
*A driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:45 p.m. at Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 bypass, and Florida Street, police said. Tiffany S. Boseman, 27, of Mull Smith Lane was released after emergency-room treatment. The report said the other driver, Jimmy Alexander Williams, 59, of Red Bird Lane, Dudley, was pulling from Florida Street. He was charged with a safe-movement violation. Damages were put at $3,500.
Drug charges
Two Goldsboro men were arrested Friday by Goldsboro police and charged with felony drug offenses.
*Anthony Bernard Maddox Jr., 20, of Cardinal Drive was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
*Algernon Devon Davis, 19, of Courtyard Circle was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He was jailed in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Kitchen fire
Unattended cooking was blamed Friday for a kitchen fire that caused about $4,000 in damages at 140 Hereford Drive, a Wayne County fire official said.
Mar Mac Volunteer Fire Chief Bill Harrell said the resident had caught a pan of grease on fire but she put it out by the time firefighters answered the 4 p.m. call.
"All we did was clean it up and blow the smoke out," Harrell said, "but it did much damage to the cabinets and the microwave."
About 10 Mar Mac firefighters responded with two trucks. Thoroughfare and Arrington also assisted.
Man charged
A 35-year-old former Goldsboro resident was arrested Friday by Goldsboro police and charged with four felony offenses in connection with two residential break-ins.
Herman Lee Wimbush of Danville, Va., was accused of break-ins Nov. 9 on South Andrews Avenue and Nov. 11 on East Mulberry Street, Investigator G.N. Lynch said. Wimbush was charged with one count each of second-degree burglary and breaking and entering and two counts of larceny. Wimbush, who had been jailed on a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle, received a $25,000 secured bond on the latest charges.
Break-ins
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A laptop computer, a television, video-game equipment and a DVD player were stolen Friday after a door was damaged at a home in the 200 block of Strawberry Lane near Mount Olive, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, William Aaron White, estimated the value of his stolen property at $2,400 and damage at $20.
*Jewelry, a jewelry box, two silver dollars and two half-dollars were stolen between Friday and Sunday after a door was forced open at a home in the 100 block of Annies Avenue near Dudley, deputies said. The resident, L.M. Doyle, put a $562 value on the property.
*A DVD player, a video player and a pair of boots were stolen Friday after a brick was thrown through a door glass at a home in the 100 block of Windsor Drive, deputies said. The resident, E.B. Vann, put a $300 value on the property.
Missing
A12-year-old Goldsboro boy was reported missing by relatives to Goldsboro police. Keith Lamonte Coley of 107 Rockefeller Court was described as black, 5-feet-3 and 99 pounds with red hair, brown eyes and a light complexion.
When he was seen last at 2:30 p.m. Friday, he was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, black and red shoes and a blue coat. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call police at 705-6572.
