Four children
treated after wreck
Four children were slightly injured Friday when a car slammed into the car in which they were riding, according to Goldsboro police.
The children, 7-year-old Samuel Grady, 5-year-old Nathan Grady, 9-year-old Aaron Grady and 10-year-old Johnson Grady, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Police said Rafael Rojas, 22, of Timothy Street, Dudley, ran a stoplight.
The driver of the car carrying the children, Johnny Grady of Norwood Ezzell Road, Mount Olive, was unhurt.
The police report said Rojas was going north on U.S. 117 and, according to witnesses, he failed to stop for the red light at George Street.
The 2001 Mitsubishi he was driving collided with the Grady vehicle, a 1990 Pontiac, which was starting to move from the stop light from George Street onto U.S. 117.
After impact, Rojas' Mitsubishi continued into the southbound lane and struck a third vehicle, a 2002 GMC, driven by George Ray Humphrey of Claridge Nursery Road.
Rojas was placed under $500 bond after Goldsboro police charged him with driving without a license and a stoplight violation.
Damage was $4,000 to Rojas' Mitsubishi, $5,500 to Grady's Pontiac and $4,400 to Humphrey's GMC.
Crimes
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the following crimes:
*A customer came inside the In and Out store at 1022 N. William St. Friday afternoon and told the clerk that the lock was broken on the cage that houses propane. The clerk inspected the cage and found the tank, valued at $40, was gone. Damage to the lock on the cage was $15.
*Jeffrey Beasley told police someone took a bag full of hand tools and a battery charger from the bed of his pickup truck while it was parked on the street in front of his home on Aycock Street. The items were valued at $410.
*Some one reportedly broke into the home of James Hetrick on Rose Street and took $14,850 worth of items, including a video game controller, a DVD recorder, a video game and 50 DVDs. Hetrick said he was only away from the house four and a half hours. He said when he returned, he found the bedroom window broken and the items missing.
*Vanessa Thomas of Olivia Lane told police Friday afternoon that someone threw a rock through the rear window to her 2005 Chevrolet Impala and took a money bag belonging to Case Farms at 303 Pecan road and containing $5,758.45 in cash and $45,529.16 in checks. The report listed the checks as recovered. Damage to the window was $100.
*Police recovered part of a vehicle sound system belonging to Emad Sarah of North Marion Drive when a suspect in several vehicle break-ins identified a speaker and an amp valued at $980. But the rest of the sound system and Sarah's wallet and two credit cards, all valued at $516, were not recovered at the time of the report. The break-in occurred some time after Nov. 9 and was discovered the next day. The report was filed Friday night when part of the sound system was recovered. The investigation continues.
*A Wal-Mart shopper told police Friday morning she came out of the store to get in her car, but the 1993 Ford Pickup truck was gone. Katheryn Kornegay Miller of Grantham Street said she was only in the store on North Spence Avenue for one hour. She said the black full-sized pickup with silver gray trim is valued at $3,000. The truck has a Wayne Memorial Hospital sticker on the front driver's side windshield and a Johnston Community College sticker on the back driver's side window.
